An entrepreneur from youth, in second grade Dan discovered the cheap wholesale catalogue, the Oriental Trading Company. Dan clipped the product photos he thought were most marketable to a seven year-old consumer, compiled a retail catalogue with a reasonable mark-up and took orders. The business was successful until our parents received a call from a worried headmaster who informed them that although Dan's business was a sign of future prosperity, such industry was prohibited on school grounds.

Swapping, however, was not. Dan went to school one day with only a little green army man and returned with a Vespa. He could trade even the most undesirable Garbage Pail Kid card, and not just trade it, but have his schoolmates bidding on Holly Wood as if she were Adam Bomb.

Clearly, he was born to produce.
